Gift of Life International

Jordan was moved to Core Program status in 2025.  Gift of Life International has a long-standing tradition of providing lifesaving care to children with heart disease in Jordan, serving Jordanian-born children, refugees and others from across the region. With the directives of His Majesty King Abdallah II and in partnership with our Gift of Life International – Jordan affiliate three years ago, Gift of Life International embarked on an effort to develop the first-ever sustainable, public pediatric cardiac program in Jordan at Jordan University Hospital (JUH). This groundbreaking initiative was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding laying the foundation for long-term, locally led care. In partnership with the local pediatric cardiac team at JUH, Gift of Life International has assembled a consortium of like-minded organizations to develop the program. Teams from Chain of Hope UK, St. Christopher Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles and Gift of Life International started to coordinate efforts and will continue over the coming years with the sole goal of empowering doctors and nurses at JUH to reliably care for children with heart disease.

2025 saw the strengthening of our partnership with Jordan University leadership (JUH).  Training of the team was supported with 4 visits by our affiliated teams.  Additionally, JUH has coordinated training of a surgeon, intensivist, nurses and an anesthesiologist.  This program helped over 60 children in 2025 and looks to exponentially increase that number in 2026 through the implementation of 6 training visits and support for the local team to treat children on their own.
