Gift of Life International

Healing little hearts in Honduras

Honduras is our newest Core Program.  We first visited the Social Security Hospital in San Pedro Sula during November of 2019.  Due to the global pandemic, we had to delay our work there until 2022.  Our strategic approach now depends upon the conducting of training visits 3 to 4 times per year.  A unique aspect of our work in San Pedro Sula is that our Salvadoran team leads one of the training visits each year.  They are joined by teams coordinated by HeartGift and Gift of Life International.  Our like-minded partner HeartGift is the predominant sponsor of all training visits.  Our goal for the coming year is to see over 60 children treated, while the local team is empowered to independently care for more children in the future.

Honduras Program Development

2025 – Honduras becomes the 6th Gift of Life International Core Program

Our work in Honduras began in November 2019. Following an assessment of the Social Security Hospital in San Pedro Sula, we developed a strategic approach to implement training visits to this facility beginning in 2022. Our teams assessed the knowledge and skill level of the local team to establish a training plan for pediatric cardiac care, including diagnosis, treatment and post-op care. CEO, Rob Raylman, met with the hospital administration and concluded that they are committed to the development of a pediatric cardiac program since there is no such resource in Honduras. After meeting all four criteria to be considered for Core Program Development, the program has officially been made the 6th Gift of Life International Core Program. Its development will be in partnership with like-minded partner, The HeartGift Foundation.
