Meet Prossy!
Prossy is a fifteen year old from Kitgum, Uganda. Prossy lives with her mother, Aya, and her father, Usam. She is the oldest of three children, and the only girl. Prossy loves to listen to music, go to school, watch cartoons, and help her mother around the house!

When Prossy was seven years old, her mother began to notice that Prossy had developed general body weakness, a cough, and a constant fever. In May of 2022, Prossy’s mother took her to Kitgum General Hospital. Here, Prossy went through several tests and received an echocardiogram to take a closer look at her heart. The doctor diagnosed Prossy with her heart disease.
Prossy and her mother were referred to Uganda Heart Institute (UHI) in Kampala. At UHI, Prossy received more tests. The medical professionals at UHI told Aya and Prossy the news. Prossy would need surgery.
Aya was devastated. She knew that her family could not afford the surgery for her daughter. She left the hospital that day and returned to Kitgum.

A few days later, Aya received a call from Uganda Heart Institute. Gift of Life International would sponsor her surgery!
Prossy had her operation done in November of 2025. The whole family is grateful that she had the opportunity to get her life-changing, heart healing care.
Prossy is now strong and smiling once again!
