Meet Anderson! Anderson is a 10 year old boy from Honduras.

Anderson lives with his mother, step-father, and 8-year-old sister. His mother works in the environmental services department at the Social Security Institute Hospital in San Pedro Sula. Anderson’s grandmother is also very present and involved in caring for him and his sister, and supporting the family.
When Anderson was only 1 year old, he experienced an accident where boiling water from noodles was spilled onto his chest. He was then taken to the hospital. There, doctors discovered he had a heart condition. Anderson was then referred to a cardiologist for evaluation and follow-up care.
Unfortunately, Anderson’s step-father lost his job, and the family was no longer able to take him to his regular cardiology appointments. As a result, Anderson went several years without the care he needed. It was not until March of this year that he was able to finally resume his cardiology checkups.

Due to his symptoms, one of them being fatigue, Anderson had difficulty walking even one block. These symptoms affected his ability to attend school, and therefore his education. For several years, he did not attend school regularly. The school was far from his home, and the journey to get there was too exhausting for him.
Anderson received his heart-healing surgery during our last visit to Honduras, in August of 2026. Now, he is able to ride his bicycle, attend school, and partake in other activities he likes. He can walk longer than a block without becoming too exhausted to go on. Anderson enjoys attending school and doing his homework.

Despite the challenges he has faced, Anderson and his family’s dreams of a healthy heart have come true!
